ABOUT SARAI KOTHI

Welcome to Sarai Kothi - a jungle home. Our name is inspired by the stunning views of the evergreen Sal (Sarai) as it is called in the local language.

Inspired by Raj Singh and Joe Malhan with their vast experience in operating wildlife properties across central Indian jungles since the early nineties, eventually building this, their home in Kanha, we (Nandini & Sandeep) moved from the madness of Delhi in 2017 because we fell in love with all that is Kanha & made this our home too. Surrounded by lush evergreen forests abutted by extensive farm land with views of the plateaus of Kanha. Fresh clean air and tons to explore in every season. Your hosts will welcome you with their warm hospitality & personalised attention.

There are 2 luxurious air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms and 1 two-bedroom suite with one attached bathroom. All our rooms are air-conditioned & heated with thoughtful amenities. Our rooms are tastefully decorated with each room opening out to private sit-outs that present spectacular views of the surrounding forest and even Bamni Dadar, the highest point of Kanha National Park.

Perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle & bustle of city life, we offer the peace and quiet the soul needs to rejuvenate. Wake up to a stunning sunrise and try one of our exhilarating walking safaris that will take you up close and personal with nature. Great for photography at your own pace. The winding trails will take you down to the Banjar River where you can enjoy an invigorating cup of tea or coffee before you start back to the property. Return for a wickedly indulgent breakfast and spend the rest of the day reading a book or exploring the nearby villages. Wind down the day with drinks and snacks at the bonfire watching the stars and listening to the calls of the jungle. Guests can unwind in the lounge area, sit under our parachute with a pair of binoculars & watch the bird life right within our property. One can take a leisurely stroll down to our pond strewn and photograph the numerous birdlife.

For action packed days spend your mornings and evenings on safaris in the Kanha Tiger Reserve where we would suggest appreciating all of nature rather than just search for the tiger for a more wholesome and enjoyable experience.

Full day safaris can also be organised at the nearby Phen Sanctuary. This is an undiscovered gem - dense Sal and Bamboo forests with undulating landscapes with total seclusion. It feels more like a private safari into days bygone. (For details see the Explore page)

We take our food very seriously at Sarai Kothi. Whether it is traditional homemade delicacies or gourmet global food we strive towards quality and perfection. Signature dishes include tikkas from the tandoor to decadent Afghan Chicken or our homemade Pizzas or burgers made from scratch. Our desserts are to die for ranging from velvety mousses & cheesecakes to seasonal halwas.
